We know that we must always do our best at work. We also know that it is often not convenient to try and deal with difficulties on our own. So, why, if someone has found a better way to resolve our same problems, shouldn’t we use these solutions?
This is a question at the basis of the best practice concept, the method which, through experiences or research has led to the desired result in a reliable way. In the software world, a best practice allows you to deal with certain phases of product development in a more effective way.
After having demonstrated their success, the best practices are spread in many areas, although they usually catch on slowly, even within the same sector. There are three main causes for resisting best practices: the lack of knowledge of best practices already in use; the lack of motivation to change one’s working habits and the lack of necessary skills to do so.
