What is a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

If you have at least some digital skills you will probably have heard of a CMS, for example WordPress, but are you on the ball enough to know CMMS? No? Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.

A CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a piece of software that centralises maintenance information, facilitates processes and automatises certain tasks to improve the effectiveness of a service.

A CMMS can help organise work orders, with the evaluation of component and supply stock and make informed decision on maintenance. It is a support to planning, organisation and reports on activities performed by maintenance teams. The CMMS can also take care of estimate checks, routine inspections and other technical tasks on installations so that those working in the field do not forget anything in their task list.

The CMMS can be particularly useful if integrated with IoT devices that allow you to improve maintenance management procedures using so-called predictive maintenance.
